8 essential apps you should put on your Android

After spending some time with my Android powered Samsung Galaxy, I’ve compiled some information about some application recommendations for you to download and put on your Android device.

APNDroid

This is utility that prevents your phone from connecting to internet by modifying APN names and APN types by adding ‘apndroid’ suffix to them. Simple and quick. It works and it’s free.

Twidroid

The best Twitter client available for Android, there’s a free version and a paid version. Lot’s of options for customization and easy to use.

Facebook

The official Facebook app is also very complete, you have a widget, a folder with your contacts and a very well made app. Perfect for mobile access. Free.

HandCentSMS

A great sms replacement app, adds conversation style messages and notifications. Well done. Free.

Phonalyzr

Gives you access to some analytic data about your phonecalls, see who you call the most or what’s the average time of your call, for example. Free.

Newsrob

A very decent feed reader that integrates with Google Reader and let’s you download your feeds for offline use. Lot’s of options and also free.

ColorNote

ColorNote let’s you take notes on your phone and assign colors. Simple but does the job right. Also free.

Advanced Task Killer

Let’s you stop applications running in the background (except if they’re protected). Free and paid versions available.

I’ve included some screenshots in the gallery below. All images were taken with ShootMe, also available on the Android Market. I’ll probably do another similar post with games.

What are your recommendations? Which android apps are essential to you? Let’s us know in the comments.

name dump: G-Backup, 3Banana Notes, Market Enabler, Barcode Scanner, Download Crutch, Explorer(speed software), Weather Widget, Bonsai Blast, Bukka, Barrage, DroidAnalytics, Air Attack, Robo Defense, Mystique, Cestos.

I wrote a post some time ago(in portuguese) similar to yours, app name+description, it’s a bit outdated, Astro File Manager has become awful for example and I’m using Explorer by speed software instead( personal preference of course ), I think I’ll update it with some of the apps I mentioned above.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I’m going to take a look at GDocs, 3Banana Notes, Barcode Scanner and Market Enabler. They seem really interesting.

@lmjabreu, where did you make the post?
