Just yesterday the Wii weather Channel became online and available to all the lucky people who bought a Wii in time for this Christmas.

Users who had the console connected to the internet received a message saying they should download the update to start using the new channel which you can use to see the temperature forecast for the next 5 days of your home town.

Of course you can also use the remote to circle around the globe (very inspired in Google Earth) and see how sunny Brazil is right now or how could people are in Antartica. Brrrr.

Meanwhile, Nintendo also announced that this friday, the Opera browser will be available for download as well, allowing you to, well browse the internet using the television. The only downside is you’ll have to pay 500 points (5 euros) in March if you want to continue to use it because it’s a trial version, until then happy browsing.

There’s a nice collection of screens over at EsferaGames descriving the Weather Channel. On another note, this friday (in Europe) you’ll be able to download on the Wii Virtual Console three new games including Tennis (NES), Space Harrier II (Genesis) and Military Madness (TG-16).

There’s also a similar list by DS Fanboy but for the Nintendo DS. It’s a pity these titles take so long to arrive in Europe. I’m hoping a import solution comes soon.
