(Xbox 360) Perfect Dark Zero

Posted on April 4, 2006, by admin, under Blog, Games.

Joanna DarkPerfect Dark Zero was one of the first games I received for my shinny new Xbox 360 and after all the hype i’ve heard around the game (and the original for the N64) I was expecting a killer title, to my surprise it didn’t turn out that way…
The game is boring, very boring, in my view it doesn’t bring anything new to the scene in my humble opinion.
You control Joanna Dark, a very “Lara Croft” inspired type of heroine who can shoot, dodge (or roll on the floor, if you count that as dodging) and cover behind crates or walls.
I would explain the story behind the game but I’ll skip that because in reality all you have to do is blow up every bad guy you can find until the end, of course you have the ocasional “rescue” mission, defend something mission and the optional-vague-as-hell objectives which just give you more work but the truth is.

The story is bad and without interest, although the ingame sequences are really nice to the eye, they don’t captivate you and the thousands of clichés don’t help either.
Your choice of weaponry includes all the usual suspects, dual guns, magnums, machine guns, uzis, plus some other trinkets, like binoculars, infra-red goggles, unlocking devices, shields and others. You can also drive some robots which aren’t very exciting.
The enemies come with all sorts of funny clothes and took the sniper-course-for-incredible-high-distances which enables them to shoot your ass from miles away, even though you can’t see them, on the other ocasions they just run in your direction and shoot randomly. Btw, they (the enemy) seem to be in perfect sintony with each other, so much thatn when sneak by on someone on the eastern part of the base, you wake up everyone else and they’ll jump on you. Oh well…
Well at least the graphics are good and show off the abilities of the 360, the music is irritanting and repeating, so load your own mp3 please.
In short, get Quake 4 or Call of Duty 2 and forget about this for now.

Overal Score: 5/10.
