Top 10 favourite extensions for Firefox happy browsing

Posted on April 1, 2006, by admin, under Blog, Web.

Recently I had to erase the hard-drive contents of my machine and reinstall all my software in the process, which turned out to be a pain in the ass, boring afternoon. All thanks to the wonderfull Windows XP.
Anyway, I now have the Windows Media Center edition which should enable me to stream more content into my Xbox 360, hopefully, I should be able to install some plugins or stand-alone applications to make it possible to view Divx movies.
In the meantime, seeing as I’m forced to install Firefox again, I might as well list my favourite extensions:

Web Developer
Adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools. These include css, html and feed validators, disable javascript, images, view placeholders and many other options. Great for web designers or developers.

Colorful Tabs
Colors every tab in a different color, helps you distinguish tabs more easely, I find it very usefull since I always maintain alot of tabs open at the same time.

SessionSaver
Saves the contents of your tabs as you left them at the time you close the browser, open it again and all is there. :)

ColorZilla
With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in the browser, quickly copy the color and paste it into another program. Fast and usefull.

del.icio.us
Keep, share and tag your favourite web pages with ease.

dragdropupload
Drop files into attachment boxes instead of browse for them or type in the filename. Works with Gmail.

MeasureIt
Simple idea, draw out a ruler to get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage. No more eye measurements. :)

Morning Coffee
This extension lets you organize websites by day and open them up simultaneously as part of your daily routine. A real time saver.

Aardvark
This extension let’s you see the tags on a page without viewing the sourcecode. You can color the screen areas and do much more. Very Nice!
Grab it at Karmatics.com.

Flashblock
Disables flash animations unless you click on them. A great way to navigate websites with adds or anoying animations.

I don’t want to classify these extensions in any particular order, I think they’re all particulary well done and I recommend it’s download, at least for a try. I didn’t list any rss agregator or ftp extension because I use Netvibes to keep track of all my rss feeds and Filezilla for ftp operations.
Well, have fun browsing and drop a message with your favourite extensions.
