Top 5 albums 2005

In terms of music I think 2005 has been a pretty good year, many new bands, the MTV Music Awards came to Portugal (hmm, the Gift should have played at least one song there, how shamefull of the organization…) and iTunes has been selling buckloads of musics.
So without further delay, let me tell you about the top 5 albums I most enjoyed this year:

1) Nick Cave – B-Sides & Rarities
B-Sides & Rarities
A box with 3 cds filled with b-sides and unreleased material, a must-buy for any Nick Cave fan.

2) Gorillaz – Demon Days
Demon Days
A must antecipaded album (at least for me), I loved the mixtures of diferent genres that Albarn has made in this cd, the guest performances also help this become a very diferent and creative album.

3) Arcade Fire
Funeral
Great mix of instruments ranging from guitars to violins, organs, guitars and others make each song played from Arcade Fire a great joy to listen. One of my personal discoveries this year.

4) Block Party – Silent alarm
Silent Alarm
Kele Okereke’s vocal clearly distinguish Block Party from other punk, indie, rock bands. Very energetic and dynamic. They even made a contract with Vodafone to participate in their ads, how nice is that?

5) Franz Ferdinand – You Could Have It So Much Better
You Could Have It So Much Better
You Could Have it So Much Better is a strong follow up to Franz Ferdinand’s first album. Full of great powerful songs, creative writing and feauturing guitars and drums and cool beats, just do yourself a favor and take this home.

Well, these were my top 5 for this year, do agree with me or have a different list? Let me know about your top 5.
